
CSIR-STEPRI Facilitates Development of Ghana’s STI Policy Implementation Plan
On 26th August 2025, CSIR-Science and Technology Policy Research Institute (CSIR-STEPRI), under the auspices of the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation (MEST), joined key partners at a Stakeholder Consultation Workshop on the Implementation Framework of the Revised National STI Policy (2024–2030).
As a key technical partner, CSIR-STEPRI contributed to the review and validation of the draft implementation framework, ensuring it is realistic and aligns with Ghana’s national development priorities, the AU Agenda 2063, STISA 2034, and the SDGs.
The workshop brought together stakeholders from government, academia, industry, the private sector, development partners, and civil society, underscoring the importance of inclusivity in building a resilient STI ecosystem.

- Raising R&D investment progressively to 1% of GDP by 2030.
- Fostering innovation in agriculture, health, energy, and manufacturing.
- Building human capital with gender-responsive STEM programmes and frontier tech skills (AI, biotech, IoT, green tech).
- Strengthening partnerships among academia, industry, government, innovation hubs, and international collaborations.
- Mainstreaming sustainability by promoting green economy solutions, biodiversity restoration, and natural capital accounting.
- Promoting open science & indigenous knowledge by making STI inclusive, accessible, and globally competitive.
