Justina A. Onumah is a Senior Research Scientist in the field of Economics of Innovation and Development in the agriculture and enterprises sectors. She also doubles as the Head of Agriculture, Medicine and Environment Research Division at the CSIR-Science and Technology Policy Research Institute. Her research interest is in the field of impact evaluation, innovation systems, poverty studies, research-policy-industry linkages, productivity and efficiency studies and the general field of development economics. She has over 12 years of research experience with several awards and fellowships to her credit, including receiving the 2021 overall best graduating PhD (Development Studies) student award from the University of Ghana and the 2023 Africa Evidence Leadership Award for her work in the evidence and policy space. She is also a Visiting Research Fellow under the Structural Transformation of Africa and Asian Agriculture and Rural Spaces (STAAARS+) programme at Cornell University. Aside research, Justina is passionate about mentorship and girls-in-STEM advocacy. She is the Founder of GirledUp Ghana, an initiative aimed at inspiring girls to pursue, persist and lead in STEM fields. Justina holds a PhD in Development Studies from the University of Ghana with academic exchanges from the University of Guelph, University of Bonn and Aalborg University.
