Welcome to CSIR-STEPRI

We are excited to have you come to our website. Whether you have come to just explore or you need some assistance, we assure you of our warm welcome. As we say in Ghana – Akwaaba!

Our world is transforming at a phenomenal pace. Think about mobile phones…. A couple of years ago, only a handful of elitist Ghanaians used mobile phones. Today the functionality of mobile phones has pervaded our socio-economic lives such that even children use mobile phones. Status cannot even be exhibited in the complexity of the mobile phones used – there is always the minimum combination of functions which most people do not use anyway. So now those years before the mobile phone era truly began, when analogue telephone ruled the telecommunication lines and even payphones were only city amenities, have become blurred in our minds.

The phenomenal transformation is the reason why we need to institutionalize studies to facilitate and enhance the application and development of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) in our society.
Our institute – the Science and Technology Policy Research Institute (STEPRI) – which is one of the thirteen research institutes of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is committed to conducting studies, formulating and implementing programmes to promote STI in the society in Ghana and Africa. In the various segments of our website, you will find out what we do and how we do it.

Again Akwaaba.
